During today’s shoot I completed a similar shoot to my
previous one of Megan however for this shoot I used my niece, I did this as she
is quite young and I felt that using a child would make my photographs very
different and would also mean that I could compare it to one of Hid Said Neto’s
photographs. During this shoot I applied the paint in a very different way to
my other photographs, for example, I dabbed on some paint and towards the end
of my shoots, I then smeared this slightly to make it similar to Neto’s photo.
This shoot turned out to be very difficult as using a child meant that it was
very difficult to control my actors expression and also to keep her still long
enough to take a few good photos which has resulted in quite a few blurry
photos.
This is one of my photos from this shoot and as you can see
from this photo, the focus on the paint does not look very clear, this is due to the glare from the light on the paint. In this photo it was also very difficult to get my model to look at the camera which resulted in this photo and although I am very happy with how this turned out I think it may have looked better if she was looking at the camera. The composition is also not very good because I have cut off the bottom of her lip whereas if I had planned to take a photo at this angle then I should have lowered it slightly to include all of her lip.
This is another of my images from this shoot. For this shoot I have smeared some of the paint on my models face to make it similar to Hid Said Neto's image of a child with UV paint smeared on their face. I think this is a very effective image because my model is pulling a very natural facial expression and she is also looking directly into the camera which makes the photo look much deeper. To improve this however I will need to edit this as it will look much clearer and the colours will look stronger once I have changed the levels and curves.
Progression
In my next shoot I am going to London to shoot at night, I have chosen to do this because I feel that once all of the places have their lights on at night I will be able to get some very different images. I will be visiting Camden Market, Big Ben, Regent Street and Buckingham Palace. I think these will all look very good when photographed at night due to there being lights in all of these locations. My next UV shoot however will be during my exam because I have two other shoots planned between now and my exam day.
