Patrick Rochon

Patrick Rochon is a light photographer from Monreal, Canada. When he first began he starter by doing light painting photography however he now also does video light painting and performances. He says in an interview that he enjoys exploring her ground and creating images with people in them. For example dancers, actors and artists. He also enjoys doing portraits and has recently got back into producing nudes. He also describes his work as colourful, energetic and high contrast.
This is one of Patrick Rochon's light graffiti images. I like this image very much as I think that the colours are very vibrant and stand out and I also feel that by including a model he has improved the image very much. I also think with this photo that the colours used, match the models facial expression and this has made the photo very unusual. I do not know how he has produced this however I would love to be able to take photographs like this.

This is another of Patrick Rochon's photographs, this is very similar to the image above however within this image he has used more colours and also shone a light directly on the models face as this has created lines directly onto the models face. With this image he has also used colours in the background which makes it stand out more and I think this makes the entire image glow with colour.

This is a very different example of Patrick Rochon's photography, for this he has used colour in the background and just included the silhouette of the model however shown some light on his shoes. I think this is a very unusual photo due to it being so different from the example images I have shown above. In this image he has included very complimentary colours by using pinks and purples and I think this was a very effective way for him to make the photo all work together. I also think he has chosen for the models stance to be this way as it may look as if he is creating the light and gives a magic sort of theme to it.

This is my final example of Rochon's work, I like this image very much as I feel that it is so different to his other images however works very well. It appears that with this photo he has put some lights into the water and taken a small section out. I think this is a very good photo as you can see the glow from the lights in the water and it creates a generally very colourful image.

Influence
I was very influenced by Patrick Rochon's work towards the beginning of my project when I attempted to create images similar to his where I put light onto a models face however mine were not very good due to not knowing how he has done this however I think his light graffiti images have influenced me slightly and the image of the lights in the water links with my glowstick images.
Summary
Overall, I think Patrick Rochon is a very talented photographer and I would like to look deeper into his work as I think he has a very unique style that I think could be vey useful in some other work.
