During today shoot I was able to apply UV makeup to a model,
this shoot came out very well due to method in which I applied the UV paint. I
started off by applying a small amount of paint and then after taking some
images added a little more. I did this a few times until I felt that my model
had enough paint on. The images have turned out very well because the colours
are very bright and vibrant as planned and I think the way that I applied the
paint was very effective as it made it easy to see certain areas of the face. I
was very happy with my images and would definitely like to complete more images
like this in my next shoots.
This is one of the very first images I took in this shoot
and as you can see, I have applied the paint to look just like makeup by
applying it over her eyeliner, over her lips like lipstick and also like
mascara. I think this style has worked very well and this would be a good photo
after some editing. If I was to shoot this again I would try to compose this
slightly differently as I feel that this is a little too close to my models
face and due to this the paint over her lips is glowing a little too much.
This is a photo from later in my shoot and as you can see I
have applied much more paint to this and I think I have done this in a very
creative way. I feel that this could be slightly darker on the other hand as my
desired effect was for the models skin to not be visible and I will do this by
editing the photo however I feel that these images have turned out rather well
and feel very comfortable with the style of photos I have chosen as they fit
into my exam topic very easily.
Progression
After this shoot I have decided that this is the style of
photography which I would like to focus on for this unit, I have decided this
as I feel that this along with my first shoot have turned out very well and
produced some of my best work. However during my next shoot I would like to use
a young model, perhaps my niece as I think this will relate to one of Hid Said
Neto’s work more due to his use of a child within one of his photographs.
Therefore in my next shoot I will do another UV shoot however I would like to
smear the paint more than applying it in this shoot as I feel this will look
more natural on a child and rather than just producing straight images, I think
it may be a very creative idea to produce a video of my images.
