Monday 2nd March
Today I was on an art
trip meaning I missed my photography lesson however I felt that whilst on the
trip I had the perfect opportunity to take some images for my photography. We
visited the National Portrait Gallery and The Victoria and Albert Museum,
whilst in both of these locations I was able to take a few photographs which
could fit into my Creative Use of Light topic. I was able to visit Leicester
Square and take some photographs of the sculptures and the water fountain and
in my opinion, these fit well into the topic as the weather was very nice and
this meant that my photos of the sculptures looked like silhouettes. I think
some of the images which I attained during today were very effective however
there were a few which were not as effective, for example a few of the images
of the lights behind the stained glass were quite blurred, this may have been
due to shooting them free hand and also due to the lights being too bright in
such a dark room.
This is one of my
images of the sculptures in Leicester Square, I like this image because I think
that if I used Photoshop to edit this image I could make the sculptures darker
meaning that they would fit into the light topic more. I also really like the
composition of this image as I have included both of the sculptures and also a
nice view of the sky, however to improve this I would like to straighten the
sculpture to the left of the image as it is slanted and I also could have
included the entire tail of the horse on the right however I think this image
still looks effective with this being out of the frame.
This is another of my light images, this image is taken of two stain glass windows which have been placed over a light in the Victoria and Albert Museum, I think this image could have been much better if I had centred the circles better because they are not very central and this is also not a very good image because the lights behind the windows is too bright and this makes it very difficult to see the images on the stained glass.
Progression
Some of my images from this shoot effectively show creative
use of light however some were not as good as others. If I were to shoot again
I would like to spend more time in these locations as I feel that I could have
attained more images however ran out of time and I could also take a tripod for
the images in Leicester Square as they may turn out better this way. Moving on
from this shoot I would like to go back to my objects in the dark as I feel
these are more effective. In particular I would like to go back to the idea of
hanging glow sticks in trees outside and maybe also dancing around outside with
torches and glow sticks to create light graffiti.
