Work Diary

Thursday 5th February
During todays lesson we went out and photographed our initial responses shoot, initially I had chosen weather so during this lesson I went out on location to photograph weather, unfortunately the weather was not very good which meant that I came out of the shoot with very little photos and none were of a good standard. After taking my location shoot I thought about how we may not have very good weather between now and the end of our unit and how we also may have bad weather on the day of the exam and due to this contemplation I decided towards the end of the lesson that I would like to change my topic from Weather to Creative Use of Light. At the very end of the lesson I thought about the light topic and began to think about how I would like to focus on this topic.
This is one of my very first weather photographs, I took this photo with the idea that I could show how the rain has created raindrops etc. I think this image is one of the best images whilst trying to take photos of the water droplets on the tree branches however I do not think this is a very effective photo and due to not being comfortable with these images I have decided to change my topic.

This is another of my weather, water droplet images, I think this image is quite effective because the water droplets are in focus whereas the above image, they are not. although I have now changed my topic to Creative Use of Light, I think this image could also work as a Light image due to the light in the water droplets being refracted.

Progression
During my initial responses shoot, I went out on location and photographed on location for Weather however during the session, I realised that weather is a very unreliable topic due to not being able to control the weather and I have now decided I would like to focus on Creative Use of Light rather than weather. In my next shoot I will bring in some glow sticks and a torch and try to photograph some light graffiti as I think this is a very effective way of portraying creative use of light.
